MH17

Dear all, first, my condolences to the families and friends of all the passengers and crew of MH17. Such unbearable sadness in an already sad world. May their souls all rest in peace.

I think now more than ever we all need to come together in peace and unity, not just here in Malaysia but all over the globe. Conflict in one part of the world, as we can see, can affect people from other parts of the world. How many of us are working for peace, instead of pointing fingers , hurling accusations and making threats at others? We need to stop and take a good hard look at ourselves.

How many of us are working, truly working, not just typing opinions, for justice and equality and trying to make this a better world? How many of us just spend all our time contributing to the toxic brew we call social media? We can use social media for good, yet we choose to use it to spread hate.

Right now take a moment and remember those families who have lost their loved ones on mh17 as well as those losing someone every day in conflict zones around the world, especially the beleaguered people of Gaza. We are all human beings and every loss causes pain in a human's heart. We have to remember that.

Let's stop differentiating between whether they're Malaysian or not, Muslim or not, near or far. There can be no peace at home if there is no peace in the world. There can be no peace in the world if there is no peace at home.

So to stand in solidarity with each other, please join us tomorrow for ‪#‎Puasa4Msia‬. We all fast together for unity and in memory of those lost. And for just one day at least, let's puasa from hatred.

Alfatihah.
