My Academic Journey

My academic journey began in 1979, when I entered Darjah 1 directly, without attending kindergarten. This was a decision made by my father, who believed in exposing me to formal education at seven. Although I was less exposed than some of my peers, my parents were deeply attentive and supportive, ensuring that I never felt left behind.

Throughout my primary school years, my parents played a crucial role in nurturing my discipline, confidence, and love for learning. They closely monitored my progress, instilled strong values of perseverance and responsibility, and consistently reminded me that education was the key to shaping my future. Their quiet sacrifices, encouragement, and prayers became the foundation of my academic strength.

I completed my primary education with excellent results, achieving 5 As in Peperiksaan Penilaian Darjah 5 (!983). This achievement opened the door for me to be offered a place at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Kuala Terengganu, a milestone that marked a significant turning point in my educational journey. It was a proud moment not only for me, but also for my parents, who saw their dedication and trust rewarded.

During my years at MRSM, I continued to work diligently under the constant guidance and moral support of my parents. Despite the distance from home, they remained closely involved, ensuring my emotional well-being and motivating me to strive for excellence. In 1989, I sat for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination and obtained an aggregate score of 9, with 6 As and 2 Bs, a result that reflected both consistent effort and strong family support.

Following my secondary education, I pursued my pre-university studies at the MARA Matriculation Centre. This phase further strengthened my academic maturity and independence. With my parents’ continued encouragement and unwavering belief in my abilities, I then went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Mathematics, a subject that demanded precision, patience, and perseverance, became both a challenge and a passion. I successfully completed my degree and graduated in 1996.

Beyond academic achievement, my parents had always emphasized the importance of contributing meaningfully to society. Inspired by their values and driven by a deep personal interest in education, I chose to further my studies in teacher training. I completed my professional teaching course (KPLI) in 1997, marking the transition from student to educator.

In 1998, I officially began my career as a teacher. Since then, I have remained in the education field, dedicating my life to teaching and guiding students. My journey as an educator is deeply rooted in the values instilled by my parents, those are discipline, compassion, resilience, and sincerity. Their constant care, prayers, and sacrifices have been the silent strength behind every achievement I have attained, both academically and professionally.

Above all, every milestone in my academic and professional journey stands as a reflection of my parents’ unwavering love, care, and sacrifices. Their guidance was never loud, yet it was always present, through gentle reminders, steadfast encouragement, and endless prayers offered quietly on my behalf. They shaped not only my academic path, but also my character, values, and sense of purpose in life.

As I look back on my journey, I remain deeply grateful to both my father and mother for their tireless devotion in ensuring my success, education, and well-being. I sincerely pray that Allah grants them His mercy, blessings, and forgiveness, and that they are always enveloped in His grace in this world and the Hereafter. May every effort, sacrifice, and prayer they made for me be counted as a continuous source of reward for them.

Amin, ya Rabbal ‘Alamin.
